Indaba 8 is the 8th Workshop in a series which is held every 3 years and is presented by the South African Crystallographic Society, under the auspices of the International Union of Crystallography, Commission on Structural Chemistry. Indaba 8 is aimed at the progress that is being made to achieve first-principle understanding of molecular science: structure, dynamics, activity and function. The symposium will be directed at all molecular scientists from chemistry, biology, physics, materials science and related fields such as crystallography, spectroscopy and catalysis. The scientific sessions will include invited keynote and contributed oral presentations as well as poster sessions with contributions from Theory and Molecular Modeling, Crystallography, Crystal Engineering, Materials and Host-Guest Chemistry as well as from Organometallic and Biochemistry.

It is expected that approximately 100 - 120 delegates (both international and from South Africa) will attend the event, to be held from 16 to 21 August 2015 at Skukuza in the Kruger National Park.

We would like to invite you to become involved with this event by sponsoring any of the events (full or partially) or other items. Please contact the Secretariat : for further details. Four levels of sponsorship are available, depending on the amount of the sponsorship.

"Building Science Capacity in Africa via Crystallography" is an initiative of the IUCr funded by the International Council for Science Unions (ICSU) through the ICSU Grants Programme 2015. The project was prepared as a follow-up to the IYCr Pan African Summit meeting (Bloemfontein, October 2014) and the proposal submitted by the IUCr (as an ICSU member) on behalf of Andreas Roodt, President of ECA and chair of the Summit meeting, and Michele Zema, IYCr Project Manager and IUCr representative for the proposal.

The IUCr project is supported by:
*  ECA
*  UNESCO
*  ICSU Regional Office for Africa
*  INDABA Series of meetings
*  SAASTA (South African Agency for Science and Technology Advancement) Public Engagement with Nanotechnology
